The most exciting things that we did at Winton were The Age of Dinosaurs museum, The Dinosaur Stampede, the musical fence and the Nathan Griggs Whip Cracking workshop because Dad bought a 5 foot whip.

Fortunately we were there when the Winton festival was on so tanks were driving, planes were flying and events were on!!

Another thing I liked was the sand art and spin art.  The thing I didn’t like was that Sam got to ride in a tank and I missed out!

We left Blackdown tablelands and we started the drive to Carnarvon Gorge NP.  There was about 18km of dirt before we got there and as I was expecting Pa was waiting for us at or campsite.  We had Birthday cake for dessert. The next day we did 4 walks.  One was the Boolinda Bluff walk, another was a walk that took you to some art (forgot the name of it) and finally my favourite one.  This one had 30 feet high walls and they were covered in moss.  It got so narrow that I could touch the walls on both sides.

The only bad thing is I slipped into the water on the way back! The next day Pa booked a tour for Bandana Sunset and luckily we only had to be there at 3pm so we had time to go back to my favourite gorge which I was telling you about.  Luckily I did not fall in the water this time. After that we went to Bandana station.  I thought it was awesome because you got as much cheese, bickies, damper, cake and Anzac biscuits as you wanted and for the adults beer and wine. The next day we did a 28km walk but mum and I only did 22km of it.  The thing that I can’t believe is that a 75 year old man can walk 28km.  I thought it was beautiful!!  I really liked the Art gallery. We also saw lots of echidnas on our walks .

After we left Mt Hay we started the drive to Blackdown Tablelands National Park.  Before we got there we had to go up a big hill, luckily it wasn’t too steep!  The next day it was MY BIRTHDAY!!!  The only downside was that the excitement made my body stay awake all night.  Luckily that was the only thing that bothered me for the whole day.

I got heaps of presents including 2 Lego sets, food, money and my new hat!  My favourite present was Grandma and Grandpa’s one which was a bionicle General Grievous.  The thing that amazes me about Grievous is his enormous size!  It says on the box that he is 32cm high.  The other thing that amazes me about the General is how many pieces he comes with.

Anyway, back to business.  After I opened all of my presents I started to get dressed and have breakfast and all that tickerdee doodah.  The treat that I only get on my birthday that is my favourite is extra computer time.  On this birthday I had 3 and a half hours of computer time.  After all that computer time we had lunch, we had yummy wraps.  I thought the wraps were delicious.  Delicious wraps make me feel good!

After lunch we went on a 2km bush walk that took us down to Rainbow Falls which were beautiful.  We looked around Rainbow Falls and then we went down to the falls below which I think would have been more impressive.  Unluckily we couldn’t get down to the bottom of those falls.  Unfortunately we couldn’t see it particularly well because we couldn’t get to the bottom of the falls.

I had very nice Cabonara for dinner.  After that we watched one movie (Spiderman) and one Grand Designs episode!!! Then we went to bed.

When we arrived at the campground we set up as fast as our little legs could carry us !!  Finally we managed to get our teeny tiny caravan set up!!
Unfortunately it took a lot of bugging Dad before he accepted our wish to do fossicking and lumbered off to the fossicking pit.  Sam got the bucket of water, Dad got the picks and I carried the plastic bags. Firstly Don, the owner, came down and explained what Thundereggs looked like and while he was doing that he found a big one and gave it to us.  We found lots of medium sized ones after that so in my opinion we were very successful.

Thundereggs form when lava flows have gas bubbles in them, then when all the lava turns to solid rock cracks form in the ground then water rich in mineral seeps in and crystallizes to make Thundereggs.

I had an excellent time fossicking for thundereggs but unfortunately that is all I can write for now, but I’ll show you one when I get back to school.

Camilla beach is a free camp and it is right on the beach.  After we set up we went fishing and within 10 minutes Dad had a monster bite.  He reckons that it was either a mackerel or a shark!!!

The next day we waited for low tide so we could walk out on the mud flats.  It ended up being 1.28km return and in some parts your feet sunk into the mud so it was really fun to run in.  it was really slimey, swishy, squelchy and cool.  I ended up catching three fish so we had them for dinner.  Unfortunately I don’t like fish that much to eat, I just like catching them.
