Today we saw Tingle trees and went on the Valley of the Giants Tree top walk. The highest point off the ground was 40 metres. Most of the old ones were hollow at the bottom because of “fun guys*” and fires. Luckily there were no fires today, only rain. In the olden days some people used to park their cars in the hollow of the trees and get a photo. We also went on a giant tree drive and I found it super boring.
At Northcliffe we did an Art walk and got to listen to stories about native animals. There were lots of art sculptures to see. I liked the “Australian House” one because I liked the symbolism of house and the tree.
On Sunday when we arrived at our new Campsite there were 3 other families staying there. All the kids played games all afternoon and had loads of fun. I learnt how to play “Chase the Ace” and it is loads of fun. It got down to 9 degrees overnight and it was freezing.
*Joke – He thought he was a mushroom but he realised he was just a fun guy (fungi).
See ya, Sam
Hi Sam,
Daddy been playing putting you and James >>> in an EK Holden >>> in the Valley of the Giants Tree’s with some Photo-shopping. When Grandma and I were there I took a photo of Grandma inside the tree, and there is plenty of room in there for a car. What we did not have is the Tree Top Walk that I see you and James on. The Tree I climbed to the top of was the Gloucester Tree with the Cabin/Platform 61 metres above the ground. One Day you can climb it too.
Love Grandpa
Can you tell me anything else about the Tingle Tree?
And I am also curious about the Australian house tree symbolism. Was there a treehouse with Oz symbols on it or were you referring to the archetypal Australian Car housed in its tree house?
