Days 5 – 9. Green-Acres is the farm owned by my uncle Robert and where my mum grew up. The boys were super excited to be coming back here for a few days. It was also a great opportunity for Julian and I to get ourselves a bit more organised (after basically everything was just thrown in the van in our final push to leave Newcastle!) and get some jobs done.
The weather was fine and warm and the farm was green after recent rain. It really is a beautiful part of the world. The dogs and the quad bike kept the kids busy and Sam loved doing all his farm jobs.
We made sun shades and insect screens whilst Robert made machete and axe sheathes for the razor-sharp blades they now contained. Sam’s finest hour was helping muster cattle for market on the quad bike.
Julian thinks this place just might be our retirement plan.
It was a sad day for everyone when it was time to leave. The boys had had a ball and it felt to me as if finally we were leaving “home” to head off into the unknown.
Thanks for the updates. Kirsty provided a lovely birthday dinner last night. Ros & Les were with us and Kirsty had their travel pics on the TV. Cheers, Dad
