Well, here we are in March already. I can’t believe how the year is flying by. Soon it will be time to pack up all our belongings and start our trip. I swing between many different feelings, ranging from excited and happy, to being absolutely terrified.
At this point there are many things to worry about.
-
Finding a caravan.
-
Packing up our house.
-
Finding someone to rent it.
-
Deciding what to take.
-
Figuring out how the heck it will all fit in our caravan and Land cruiser.
-
Trying to remember “Less is more” and living by it.
-
The four of us living side by side four a whole year, day in day out, in such a small space.
-
Educating the boys.
-
Coping without my shower.
-
Making friends with dirt.
-
Sharing my daily environment with insects and reptiles.
-
Spending so long so far from tertiary medical facilities.
I could go on and on but I guess you get the picture.
To return to my happy place I imagine: –
-
Endless days by the beach.
-
Soaking in the wonders of the outback.
-
Not having to organize my life around work, school, scouts, soccer, cleaning and tidying.
-
Generally not having so much stuff in my life.
-
Looking at the stars.
-
Listening to the silence.
-
Sharing of all the above with my family.
I guess I’d better get started on getting some lists together. Wish me luck!
Hi JKSJ,
How’s the test run going?
I see the list of items to be ticked off: how are you travelling with point 7
Bye, Dad-Grandpa
Thanks Dad- yes i am coping with the cramped confines. I am trying to get the boys outside as much as I can. love Kris.
Hi Kristen
I am sure the adventures have started! I look forward to reading about them. The holidays seem to have gone by too quickly and it is only a couple more days until school starts for another year. No doubt it will be another busy one!
Hi, Thanks for your comments. Blog posts coming soon from the grown ups! Are in geelong currently and have been continously with family and friends so no time to attend to computer jobs as yet. Hope you have had a restful break. Holidays are always over too soon.
Cheers Kristen.
