James – Gulf and outback QLD

After the Northern Territory we went into Queensland and went to Cloncurry.  That night I went to my first rodeo which was awesome!!  At the rodeo we watched cowboys ride on bucking bulls and  bucking horses.  We also saw cowboys wrestling steers and cowgirls lassoing steers.

After Cloncurry we went to Normanton.  In Normanton we rode on a train called the Gulflander.  The Gulflander is  a 102 horse power Gardner  diesel engine rail motor built at Ipswich rail motor workshop in 1950.  After we got on the train clicked into gear and we were off on a beautiful 2 hour ride.

After Normanton we went to the Undarra Lava tubes. The lava tubes awesome and we saw bats hanging from the roofs.  When we turned off our torches it was pitch black.

  1. Hi James,
Queensland sure looks interesting, especially the Rodeo and the Lava Tubes. Grandma & I will have to visit the Lava Tube ourselves sometime.
    Love Grandpa

  2. Lucky you to have seen the Undarra Lava tubes…they are awesome I have heard from people who have seen them. I think Rebecca has been there.

  3. Once again this blog was so interesting as we have been to the Undarra Lava Tubes and ridden on the Gulfllander. Just so much fun for us to hear you talk about the places that we have been to. Lots of love to all Les and Ros xx
