Day 10 – 1091 km – We left the comfort and wonderful hospitality of the farm and drove 3.5 hours to Glenrowan. Kris found a nice campsite a few km out-of-town, complete with pool and power for $35 a night.
After setting up, we went back to town for some bushranger revelry courtesy of the Ned Kelly museum. They had a gruesome death mask of Ned, some interesting articles, replicas and Kelly Gang memorabilia, as well as the only reputedly genuine 8000 pound ‘Wanted’ poster for Ned Kelly – all for $2 a head! The pantry was empty, and Wangaratta was 15 km away, so we had a meal at the Pub before turning in. No one held us up on the way home.
Hi, Ned Kelly’s plough-shire armour looks very heavy.
Sam, did you get to lift any of Ned’s Armour?
Love Grandpa
Dear Grandpa,
No sadly I didn’t, but it was good fun looking at it and learning about Ned Kelly.
Love from Sam.
